Chelsea started the season with an unbeaten run that lasted until November before Tottenham Hotspur crushed them at Wembley.

That run, though, had the Blues in the title race for a brief time. It was an incredibly eye-catching opening, especially given the fact Maurizio Sarri only had around a month to prepare his squad for the new season following his appointment.

Initially, it looked as though the Chelsea players were responding well to Sarri’s methods, but things started to go wrong in the winter. The season was tempestuous at times - most notably heavy defeats to Bournemouth and Manchester City - but the Italian still managed to win the Europa League and finish inside the top four.

Carefree Lewis believes that Sarri deserves credit for the start Chelsea had. Check out Lewis’s thoughts on Chelsea’s start to the season in full in the video above.
