Both sides have finally made it official – Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement over the transfer of Alvaro Morata, which will happen on July 1, 2020.
The Spanish forward had already joined the club on loan, and will continue to be a loanee until the aforementioned date, when his stay will be made permanent for a fee of €65m (£58.2m), per BBC Sport.
Morata made his debut for Atletico in February against Real Betis, and has since then managed a total of 17 games for the Rojiblancos, scoring six goals in the process.
Now, he has taken to Instagram to celebrate his permanent switch to the Madrid giants.
Since he’ll be taking the coveted number nine shirt for Atletico Madrid, Morata listed some of the greats to don it before him and said that he accepts the challenge to continue their legacy.
Of course, this attracted a lot of attention as his ex-teammates, legends of the game and other stars soon flooded his comment section, congratulating him and sending him their best wishes and messages.
Pedro was one of those, as he wished his “big brother” good luck and told him to score more brilliant goals too.
Christian Vieri was also there since Morata did mention him in the snap and he just posted a series of emojis showing his support. There were plenty of other stars and ex-players who did the same too.
