Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has confirmed that the French giants have an interest in Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata.
The Ligue 1 champions were linked with a deadline day move for the Spaniard, whose future at Stamford Bridge is far from clear.
Despite being one of the Blues’ key men over the past few seasons, Jose Mourinho is thought have deemed the playmaker surplus to requirements since taking control at the club.
PSG boss Blanc – who was also interested in now Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil – believes that Mata could be a success at the Parc des Princes, hinting at a potential revival of his interest in January:
“Ozil and Mata would have done well.” He is quoted by The Express.
“To my knowledge, the only negotiations there have been were those for Ozil.”
Mata has claimed that he is happy to stay in London, however privately he is said to be willing to leave if his playing time is still limited this winter due to a desire to be in Spain’s squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
Tottenham are also thought to be keen on the midfielder, and could look to launch a stunning move next year.
