PSG set for Ashley Cole swoop

Chelsea and England defender Ashley ColeParis Saint-Germain are ready to offer Chelsea defender Ashley Cole a £150,000-a-week three year deal in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

It emerged yesterday that Chelsea were prepared to allow Cole to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer at the end of the season and the Ligue 1 giants are eager to stave off competition from the likes of Real Madrid and both Manchester clubs for his signature.

Cole, 31, will be out of contract in the summer and will not be offered a new deal under Chelsea‘s new policy that players over the age of 30 are deemed too old for new contracts by owner Roman Abramovich.

And the emergence of 23-year-old Ryan Bertrand at Chelsea is further evidence that Roberto Di Matteo’s side can move forward without Cole, who has was recently labelled the “best left-back in the world” by current PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti.

PSG are confident they can tempt Cole to swap the Premier League for Ligue 1 football and make him the latest former Chelsea employee to make the switch to the Parc des Princes after Ancelotti, Paul Clement, Claude Makelele and Nick Broad.

The controversial defender is currently preparing to make his 99th appearance for England against Poland in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Warsaw tonight following his Twitter rant at The FA a couple of weeks ago where he labelled the governing body “a bunch of twats.”

The defender, who signed for Chelsea from Arsenal in 2006, has so far made 272 appearances and scored seven goals in all competitions for The Blues.
