According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, potential suitors of Juventus star Paul Pogba will have to smash the British record transfer fee to sign him this summer.
The France international is widely regarded as one of the most exciting talents in world football, boasting an eclectic mix of physicality, technical quality and netting prowess, and is expected to leave the Old Lady this summer after three consecutive Serie A titles.
But in order for rumoured suitors Chelsea and Manchester City to sign him, they’ll have to break the British record transfer fee of £59.7million – currently held by Manchester United midfielder Angel Di Maria.
According to the British tabloid, PSG have tabled a £60million offer for Pogba, which the Premier League duo would have to match. The 22 year-old is yet to agree personal terms with the Ligue 1 champions, but he’ll likely demand a five-year contract worth £320k per-week.
Whether either club could afford such an audacious sum without breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations remains to be seen.
