Sky Sports journalist James Kilpatrick has been over-critical of Chelsea when giving them their Premier League grade for the weekend after the win at Cardiff City.

What's he said, then?

Despite trailing for most of the match in Wales, Maurizio Sarri's Blues claimed all three points late on through goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The three points were key for the West Londoners as they kept them just one point off Manchester United in fourth and well in the hunt to finish in the top four.

However, Kilpatrick, only giving the Cockneys a C, had no praise for Sarri's men:

"Chelsea may have edged past Cardiff but they did so in controversial circumstances as Azpilicueta's equaliser should not have stood.

"Antonio Rudiger was also fortunate not to receive a red card on an afternoon when Chelsea lacked spark in attack, and only really got going when Eden Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were introduced in the second half."

Very, very harsh

Whilst the point that the Blues were not at their best on the day is a valid one, the comments and overall rating are very harsh indeed.

Only the best teams still win when they are below par and Chelsea on Sunday proved that they possess that quality.

The fact that Sarri could call on players from the substitutes' bench to help them achieve victory just shows the strength in depth in the ranks at Stamford Bridge, this is hardly a criticism and will serve them well during the run-in.

The truth is that there's no pleasing some people and it really mustn't be forgotten that, at the end of the day, the match belonged to the visitors who registered a pivotal triumph.
