Interim Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez claims that the Blues have already put in a place a transfer budget of £100millon for the new manager this summer.
Jose Mourinho is the odds on favourite to return to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid and despite problems with the Chelsea owner in the past, the Portuguese boss would be the fans’ choice.
Benitez has found it tough to win over the Blues supporters, despite lifting them to a probably top three finish, an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and of course Europa League glory after their thrilling victory in Amsterdam on Wednesday night.
The former Liverpool manager could well replace Mourinho in the Spanish capital and it appears he won’t have anything like the sort of money that Roman Abramovic will offer the new manager at Chelsea.
The Blues spent big last summer but didn’t give Benitez much funding in January leaving £100million as the summer kitty.
“What I am sure about is that next season Chelsea will be much better because they will spend £100m and they will sign three or four players,” Benitez told The Sun.
“The foundation is already there. The future is bright for them.
“I don’t know who the next coach will be, I am not the one who should say, even though everyone speculates the same person.”
