The Blues need their Ukrainian rivals, who have already booked their place in the last 16, to defeat Juve to have any chance of qualifying from Group E.
Shakhtar have home advantage over the Italian champions and Benitez believes that they will go all out to claim the three points and not sit back to play for a draw:
“We know that a draw would be bad for us but the positive thing is that Shakhtar has a lot of good players and everybody is talking about them, so they have to show the rest of the world that they are really good players.” He told SkySports.
“When you know the top sides in Europe or in the world are watching you then you have to perform.”
“Obviously, Juve will go for the win but Shakhtar will need to show this level that they have.”
Even if the Eastern European giants do overcome Juventus Chelsea must beat FC Nodsjaelland to have a chance of qualification.
Benitez was in a similar position with Liverpool during 2005, when he won the competition.
His side were criticised for struggling to make it out of their group, but the Stamford Bridge boss knows that anything is possible in the knockout phase:
“It’s easy to talk but you have to be there, you have to win and Chelsea did it and Liverpool did it,
“Sometimes the winner is not the best team.”
