Real Madrid are prepared to finalise a blockbuster deal to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea as soon as Zinedine Zidane is installed as the club’s new manager, report the Metro.
The 43-year old Madrid icon is widely expected to replace Rafa Benitez at the helm after the former Liverpool manager has failed to convince during his short tenure in charge of the European giants.
Currently in charge for the club’s Castilla team, the Frenchman is hotly tipped to be the next man in the hot seat should the club decide to rid of Benitez.
As a result, securing Belgian star Hazard could be the first order of business at the Bernabeu under Zidane, who has previously spoken of his admiration for the 24-year old.
Speaking earlier this month, the World Cup winning maestro revealed he loves watching the Chelsea man play and described him as ‘spectacular.’
Reports suggest the Blues star is tempted to move to Madrid in order to work with one of the legends of modern day football, amid Chelsea’ struggles.
Despite his return to the fold recently, the former Lille man has been dropped by manager Jose Mourinho this season as speculation surrounding their relationship grows.
