Despite Alvaro Morata’s recent upturn in form, it feels safe to assume that Chelsea will still be on the hunt for a new top class striker in the coming transfer windows. If Maurizio Sarri is to turn the Blues into genuine title contenders then he needs a prolific, elite level centre-forward.
The arrival of a top class new striker would likely mean the end of Morata and Olivier Giroud’s time at Stamford Bridge, though, they aren’t the only ones who ought to be fearing for their Chelsea futures. On-loan Michy Batshuayi is doing little in his temporary stint at Valencia to suggest he has what it takes to have an impact for his parent club.
In 12 appearances for the La Liga club so far this season, the 20-cap Belgium international striker has scored just 2 goals. However, last season, the 25-year-old was utterly prolific throughout a spell with Borussia Dortmund, suggesting that he does have what it takes to make it at the top level.
If he can’t improve his form soon though it is doubtful that he will ever get another chance to prove his quality for Chelsea in the Premier League.
Blues fans are certainly divided on the role Batshuayi has to play, with just 48% of those in our poll stating that they believe he still has a future at Stamford Bridge. See the full results below.
