Olivier Giroud's first start for Chelsea witnessed an impressive if not exactly spectacular performance from the French striker. While the January signing from Arsenal is still awaiting his first Blues goal, he played a pivotal hand in the opening strike during Chelsea's 3-0 win over West Brom - exchanging with Eden Hazard to assist the Belgian playmaker with a delicate one-two.

And that ability to bring Chelsea's chief talent into the game was a recurring feature of Giroud's performance, which saw him hold up the ball well and almost play in Hazard twice more before being subbed off in the second half due to a lack of match fitness.

In fact, the 69-cap striker's first Chelsea start, and particularly how well he combined with Hazard during certain spells of the game, raises an interesting question of whether he or Alvaro Morata should be Antonio Conte's first-choice centre-forward for the remainder of the campaign.

Morata began his Chelsea career with a flurry of goals but suffered a drought during the winter period and has been absent for the last few weeks with a back problem. He's certainly a talented goalscorer, especially in the air, but isn't quite as effective as Giroud when it comes to holding up the ball.

We posed that exact conundrum to Chelsea supporters following yesterday's game and our poll revealed that Blues fans are incredibly divided on the issue. While 56% think Morata should be Conte's first choice front-man, 44% believe Giroud deserves that role instead.
