According to Italian media outlet Sportitalia, via Football Italia, Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain's brother/agent about a potential summer move for the 30-year-old, who is rated at £54m by Transfermarkt, and their fans were quick to deliver their verdict on the rumour on Twitter.

The Blues may well look to strengthen up top before the start of the new season with Alvaro Morata struggling during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, Michy Batshuayi seemingly not favoured by Antonio Conte and Olivier Giroud getting no younger.

Higuain enjoyed a decent 2017/18 with Juve as he scored 23 goals and provided a further eight assists in 50 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A champions, and he now has 55 goals in 105 outings in total for them.

Meanwhile, the west London outfit and director Marina Granovskaia could well be in for a busy window following their miserable title defence, as they look to freshen things up.

We asked Chelsea supporters to vote on our poll to see whether they would like their club to sign the Argentina international, and a majority 65% said they wouldn't.

Those Blues fans obviously feel that he wouldn't be a big enough Morata upgrade – if at all – to spend a huge sum of money on, especially as he turns 31 at the end of 2018 and with his physique sometimes being brought into question.
