Revealed: Majority of Chelsea fans think Kurt Zouma will thrive under Maurizio Sarri

The Chelsea links to former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri are refusing to go away, and while Antonio Conte’s future has yet to be decided one way or another, it is surely in doubt after the Blues missed out on Champions League qualification.

If the Italian is replaced by his national compatriot at Stamford Bridge over the summer, then the 59-year-old will want to quickly assess his squad to see where it needs strengthening and which players are good enough to be involved next term.

One of those individuals is 6ft 3in tall centre-back beast Kurt Zouma, who will return to west London following a season-long loan spell with Stoke City after the Potters were relegated to the Championship.

The Frenchman has established himself as a key defender just a couple of years ago and would have had the fans, who have urged the club to sign a 6ft 2in striker on a free transfer this summer, excited before he suffered a serious injury which he still looks to be recovering from at times.

We asked Chelsea fans to vote on our poll to see whether they thought the 23-year-old would thrive or flop under Sarri if he is appointed as Conte’s successor, and a huge 78% thought he would shine.

With the former Napoli boss usually preferring a 4-3-3 formation with just the two centre-backs, Zouma would be fighting for a spot in the starting XI with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, and his return may also finally ensure that Gary Cahill is no longer a regular in the side.
