Schurrle closes in on Chelsea move

Bayer Leverkusen winger, Andre SchurrleChelsea are closing in on a swoop for Andre Schurrle and just have to agree a fee with Bayer Leverkusen after the player said yes, according to the Sun.

Chelsea have been chasing the German international forward for months, but it looks as though a deal is finally on the verge of going through after the player opted for a move to Stamford Bridge.

Leverkusen’s general manager Wolfgang Holzhauser says Schurrle has already agreed to join Chelsea and the deal will be rubber-stamped as soon as the two clubs can agree on a fee, while the Germans also need to find a replacement.

“Schurrle has probably signed a pre-contract deal with Chelsea,” he revealed. “It all depends on whether we let him go. We have received a concrete offer for a fee which we are considering.

“But the price alone is not decisive. We must also have alternatives.”

Meanwhile, Bayer are also hoping that Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne could be included as part of the deal but they face competition from Borussia Dortmund, who want him on a permanent basis.

However Chelsea just want to send him out on loan and that could result in him joining Bayer on a season-long loan deal.

“He still has a few talks to hold with Chelsea,” Holzhauser added. “It looks like there is an offer from Dortmund to sign the player for a relatively high fee.

“According to our information, Chelsea don’t want to sell him but just loan him out.”
