Borussia Dortmund are looking at Chelsea flop Alvaro Morata with designs on a £45m summer deal, according to Bild, via TalkSPORT.

What's the story?

The report claims that the out-of-form Spaniard is at the top of the German outfit's shopping list as they want him to spearhead their attack next season after the January departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal.

It also says that although Morata's Chelsea team-mate Michy Batshuayi enjoyed a very successful loan spell with Dortmund in the latter part of last season, it is the former Real Madrid man that they really want.

The reported transfer fee the Blues are demanding is £45m, which could prove a little steep for the Germans to match.

Higuain is the perfect Morata replacement

Although Morata has not become a bad striker in the space of one season, it is clear that he hasn't settled at Chelsea and a clean break may be best for all concerned.

Dortmund is a fun place for a striker to play football, as Batshuayi proved last season, and the switch could invigorate Morata, even if Chelsea could be lucky to get £45m after such a poor end to the last campaign.

Gonzalo Higuain worked with Maurizio Sarri at Napoli in the 2015/16 season, and banged in nearly 40 goals in all competitions.

The pair clearly complement each other well and a bullish new striker-manager duo could give Chelsea's summer the lift-off it has been crying out for.
