Details have emerged over Chelsea’s record breaking bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba last summer, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The Blues were unable to land the likes of John Stones as they looked to strengthen their title winning side and reportedly launched a spectacular late offer for the Frenchman.
A fee of between €90-95, roughly around £74m, is understood to have been lodged, though clearly a move to West London never materialised.
It would have well eclipsed the £50m shelled out on Fernando Torres in 2011.
After leaving Manchester United in 2012, the 23-year old midfield powerhouse has gone on to establish himself as one of the top players in his position across Europe.
Though he stayed in Turin last time around, he has been linked with a number of big money moves away from the Old Lady for much of the last year.
Barcelona and Manchester City are also believed to be monitoring his situation with the dominant Serie A champions heading into this summer.
