Diego Godin (Uruguay):

Centre-back Diego Godin played a major role in Atletico Madrid’s run to win the Spanish La Liga and reach the Champions League final where they lost out to city rivals Real Madrid. His defensive showing led to his team being given the title of having the league’s best defence. His aerial ability is also another aspect which makes him a danger during the set pieces as shown with his goal in the final against Real.

With the departure of David Luiz, the 28-year-old defender can step in and provide competition against Gary Cahill or even John Terry if he fails to reach the performance level of last season. Godin made 51 appearances, scoring eight goals in all competitions, in a season which saw his price sky rocket to about £18 million. Despite the high price, Jose Mourinho should really consider services of the Uruguayan star.
