The Brazilian defender has seen himself linked with both Bayern Munich and Barcelona this summer, with the latter thought to be considering making an offer of over £40million for his services.
Luiz has only played 30 minutes of pre-season for the Blues, having been given an extended holiday following his participation in the Confederations Cup for Brazil.
However the 26-year-old did not train with the squad on Tuesday, and has been ruled out of the game with Real Madrid for an unspecified reason.
Chelsea fans are worried their star man’s head may have been turned upon hearing of the interest from the Catalan giants, and that this may be the first stage of him attempting to engineer a move to La Liga.
New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has made it clear he sees Luiz as integral to his plans at Stamford Bridge, while the club have always stuck to their stance that one of their stars of last season is not for sale at any price.
Chelsea wrote on Twitter: “While the other lads trained, @DavidLuiz-4 completed his own workout. He won’t play against Real tomorrow.”
