Superstar that rejected Man United could be on his way to Chelsea under new boss

Antonio Conte is keen to lure Arturo Vidal to Stamford Bridge from Bayern Munich if he’s named as Chelsea’s new manager, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italy coach is believed to have ‘agreed a deal in principle’ to succeed Guus Hiddink this summer when his spell with the Azzurri comes to an end after the European Championships.

With the Blues having endured a woeful 2015/16, the London club are likely to launch a first-team overhaul, and reports claim that Vidal is a top target having worked with Conte successfully at Juventus.

The Chile international has been linked with Manchester United for much of the past couple of years, and recently revealed that he rebuffed an offer from Louis van Gaal’s side.

It’s understood that the combative and energetic midfielder was watched by Chelsea director Michael Emenalo in Champions League action against Juve on Tuesday night.

Vidal is known for his off-field antics – he was caught drink driving in Chile over the summer – but has a proven record at the top level with four Serie A titles, the 2015 Copa America and, barring a late season collapse, a Bundesliga winner’s medal to his name.
