As reported by Spanish outlet Marca, Chelsea’s star goalkeeper is on the verge of a summer move to Real Madrid, ending a five year relationship with the Stamford Bridge side.
Thibaut Courtois has been ever-present for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, but his time at the club could be coming to an end if reports from Spain are to be believed.
Marca reckon the Belgian international is already telling friends and teammates that he’s making the switch to Real Madrid from the Blues next summer.
Madrid are said to be long-time admirers of the goalkeeper, ever since his three year stint on loan to Atletico made him stand out as one of the best ‘keepers in Europe.
The feeling is mutual with Courtois reportedly a big fan of the Spanish city in general and sees his long-term future there.
Courtois is a goalkeeper of undoubted quality and is vital to a Chelsea side that is conquering all in front of them this season.
His shot stopping ability is second to none and he has the concentration required to very rarely make errors between the sticks at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have kept 10 clean sheets in 17 Premier League games so far this season with Courtois being key to that. Perhaps his best performance of the season came in the Blues 4-0 home win over Manchester United in October, the Belgian international making 5 saves across the 90 minutes.
Losing him would be a big loss to the team and Chelsea would have to be rewarded with a significant financial sum in return.
