Chelsea fans on Twitter are rejoicing at the news that Marcos Alonso could quit Chelsea for Atletico Madrid this summer.

The left-back is keen on a move to the Spanish capital, according to Marca, after seeing his first-team minutes diminish at Stamford Bridge in part due to a drop in form and the emergence of Emerson Palmieri.

A regular under Antonio Conte, Alonso started the season as Maurizio Sarri's first-choice left-back but has continuously lost playing time to Emerson with the Brazilian even starting Wednesday's triumphant Europa League final.

The 24-year-old played all 90 minutes against Arsenal in Baku, putting in an assured display and providing the assist for Olivier Giroud's opening goal.

Alonso has spoken about his frustrations with Sarri, particularly mentioning that the former banker still has much to learn due to never playing the game professionally.

With Emerson starting to control the left side of Chelsea's defence, Alonso could be surplus to requirements and Blues supporters are overjoyed at the prospect of selling the Spanish international.
