Christmas, it’s a manic time of year for everyone. But it’s us Fantasy Premier League managers that suffer more than most, with the games coming thicker and faster than at any other stage of the season.
Although it can be hassle, putting some time in and mulling over transfers is useful on two fronts, one being you can haul yourself up your league tables and the other being it slows down that over-zealous mince pie arm!
Table-topping Chelsea are, probably, the team to be looking at, with the Blues’ games spread more thinly than some of their rivals between now and early January, while hosting Bournemouth and Stoke City is favourable enough to overlook a tricky trip to Spurs.
We’ve put in a bit of hard work so you don’t have to, and picked three Chelsea stars worth having. In first we have Marcos Alonso (£6.4m), who has been one of the unsung heroes of Chelsea’s 3-4-3 switch. His marauding runs on the left flank have allowed him one goal and two assists, but it’s the Blues’ clean-sheet return (nine) that separates him from other defenders – two home games and a relatively blunt Spurs offer hope for adding to that, too.
Eden Hazard (£10.4m) is another worth consideration. He remains a doubt for the coming game with Bournemouth, but as long as Antonio Conte can get him on the pitch you’d imagine the Italian will. With 6.9 points-per-90-minutes, he’s been a threat all season long.
And number three on our list is Nemanja Matic (£5.1m). The Serbian has been given more freedom by Conte to roam forward this term, which is reflected by his return of seven assists – a mighty tally for a player thought of as a holding midfielder.
