It’s that time again. It’s FA Cup third round weekend and some of the lower-ranked sides left in the competition have the chance to write themselves into the history books as they look to pull off some big shocks – none more so than at Stamford Bridge where Peterborough will face Premier League leaders Chelsea.

It has been a steady season for the Posh in League One, and they currently sit just two points outside of the play-off positions as we start 2017.

United have been known for their goalscoring over the past few years, but it is their tighter defence that is the reason that they are on the cusp of the top six – Grant McCann’s men have conceded just 26 goals in 24 league matches, whereas last campaign they finished having let in 73.

They will come up against a Chelsea side in formidable form, though, having won 13 straight matches in the Premier League before their midweek loss at Spurs, although the visitors will take some confidence from the fact that League One rivals Bradford City pulled off a brilliant win against the Blues in the capital in 2015.

Here are THREE Peterborough dangermen who could shock Chelsea on Sunday…

The striker has scored eight goals for the Posh this season and he will go to Stamford Bridge in high spirits as he has previous against one of the Premier League's big guns at this stage of the competition.

A year ago, Nichols’ former club Exeter City hosted Liverpool at St James’ Park and the young attacker put in a Man of the Match showing in the 2-2 draw, scoring the opening goal in the 10th minute to settle any nerves that the League Two outfit might have had, in a performance that helped him get his move to Peterborough.

The midfielder is known to be a set-piece specialist and scorer of brilliant goals from outside the penalty area, but he offers far more than just the spectacular.

The former Newcastle United academy star has netted six goals for Peterborough this season, while he also has the joint-most assists in League One with nine, and the 23-year-old will be keen to make a big impact at Stamford Bridge to impress any clubs that might be scouting him.

Gwion Edwards

The winger is Peterborough’s top goalscorer this season with nine goals in all competitions and he is certainly one that Chelsea will need to keep an eye on at Stamford Bridge.

With a tie against the Blues at stake when the Posh hosted Notts County in their second round replay, it was Edwards that calmed any nerves that the hosts would have had with a second-minute goal that set them on their way to a 2-0 win.
