Three reasons Chelsea are playing like champions again

The 2016/17 season started with yet another manager in the hot seat at Stamford Bridge. Fresh from leading an average Italian side to an impressive European Championship outing, Antonio Conte was coming into arguably the most difficult and exciting league in the world with a big challenge on his hands. But then football lovers didn’t know what to expect from the Blues this season given their uninspiring campaign last term.

They started well, winning their first three games before it all began to fall apart when they lost two key games first against Liverpool 2-1 at home and 3-0 at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. Their Conte knew he had lots of thinking to do and make changes or risk the season’s objectives running away from him.

Conte knew he had lots of thinking to do after these losses, which followed a draw at Swansea, and made bold changes to get things back on track. And back on track they have been, with the Londoners’ weekend win over West Brom their ninth on the spin.
