Target The Full-Backs

The weakest area of PSG’s team can be found on either side of their defence. At 32, Maxwell’s best days of foraging forward from left-back at Inter are long gone. And on the right-hand-side, Van der Wiel is likely to still be rusty after play his first football for a month in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat of Reims.

The problem for Chelsea is that the wide men in their ‘attacking three’ prefer to cut inside. This means that width has to come from the full-backs. If Chelsea are to progress to the semi-finals, they need to be brave. Allowing Azpilicueta and Ivanovic off the leash may be Chelsea’s best way to break PSG down once they get back into position.
