Turkish giants prepare shock bid for Chelsea star

Chelsea captain John Terry

Fenerbahce are set to bid for Chelsea captain John Terry in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Turkish club have fallen four points behind rivals Galatasary in the league table, mainly due to their rivals signing big name players such as Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder.

Fenerbahce already have some players with Premier League experience, after signing Dirk Kuyt from Liverpool in the summer, as well as Raul Meireles from Chelsea. And now the Turkish team are set to bid for another Stamford Bridge player, to add to their experienced squad.

Terry has a year left on his current contract, but has, at times, fallen out of favour with current interim manager Rafa Benitez, who felt the wrath of the fans when he dropped the Blues captain.

At 32-years-old, Terry is going to start running out of consistent first team football at the London club, with Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz and Gary Cahill all pushing the Englishman for a place in the team. Fenerbahce will be hoping they can lure Terry away from the club, letting the defender finish his career away from the club.

Despite bookmakers naming Terry as a long-shot candidate to be the next permanent manager, the centre-back may not even be at the club at all next season, as with a bid expected from Fenerbahce when the transfer window opens.

Fenerbahce will have to wait until the summer to bolster the squad, and instead focus on their next league game against Akhisar Belediyespor on Sunday.
