UCL giants remain keen on key Chelsea man, city rivals’ transfer stance may be key

Atletico Madrid are still confident of setting up an emotional reunion with Diego Costa this summer and see Chelsea’s pursuit of Alvaro Morata, whom plays for their city rivals Real Madrid, as key, according to reports from the Mirror.

The controversial Brazil-born Spain international joined the Blues from the Rojiblancos in the summer of 2014 and has since been a big hit in London.

Costa fired Chelsea to the title in his debut season at Stamford Bridge and even came out as their top scorer in a difficult 2015/16 that saw his happiness at the club called into question on an almost weekly basis.

Atletico have since been linked with moves for their former hero’s signature on multiple occasions, and reports claim that they are confident of luring him back to Madrid if the Premier League club are able to snap up Morata from Real.

Chelsea are believed to be willing to pay big for the 23-year-old forward, but Los Blancos’ mooted desire to keep hold of their academy graduate, whom they recently re-signed from Juventus, may make a swoop difficult.

However, Atleti are willing to wait with much time left in the transfer window.
