Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard should leave the club in the summer believes former Blues boss Gianluca Vialli.
The England international is out of contract in the summer and speculation around his future has been steadily growing over the current campaign.
It is expected that the 34-year-old will stay if former manager Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge to replace interim boss Rafael Benitez in the close season.
The Italian believes that the midfielder – who is just one goal away from tying the record to become Chelsea’s top-scorer in the history of the club – should head abroad and leave the club as a hero.
Vialli said: “In my opinion it’s probably the right time for them to say goodbye to each other and leave on good terms.
“Frank has a fantastic opportunity to try something new, perhaps in Los Angeles or somewhere else in America, have fun for the next three or four years and make some money.
“Then one day he could perhaps come back to Chelsea as a hero. I really hope he scores a few more goals to become their top-scorer in the history of the club.”
