Chelsea have joined a whole host of clubs in the race to sign Bayern Munich’s out of favour midfielder Danijel Pranjic , according to The Sun. Along with Chelsea, Premier League sides Newcastle, Everton, Sunderland and Wolves have all shown an interest in Pranjic.

But there isn’t only Premier League interest in the Croatian, with Lazio and Hamburg also rumoured to be keeping tabs on the midfielder.

The 30 year-old Croatian international has become frustrated by his lack of first team action at Bayern Munich and is seeking a move away from the Allianz Arena in January and he isn’t short of admirers.

Chelsea boss Andre Vilas-Boas is reportedly willing to offload up to six players in the January transfer window. Nicolas Anelka has already become the first player to leave the club after handing in a transfer request and Brazilian defender Alex is expected to quickly follow him out of Stamford Bridge after also handing in a transfer request.

Didier Drogba , Jose Bosingwa , Florent Malouda , Saloman Kalou and Paulo Ferriera are some of the players who may also be departing Chelsea over the next month. Vilas-Boas is keen to add fresh faces to his squad next month and he knows he must free up space and funds in order to bring in some new players.

Pranjic is seen as a player who could be a useful addition to the Chelsea team due to his versatility. The Croatian can play as a left winger, left-back and a central midfielder. Chelsea know they face stiff competition to sign the Bayern Munich man, but they know they can offer Pranjic something their other rivals can’t, Champions League football.
