Watch: Is this hotshot the answer to Chelsea’s lifeless midfield?

The early wave of optimism that Antonio Conte’s move to Chelsea initially brought has all but evaporated in recent weeks.

Two Premier League losses on the bounce have shown the cracks that saw the Blues meekly surrender their title last term emerge, perhaps more deep-rooted than ever.

With most of the big-name players failing to perform, the controversial loan system in play at Stamford Bridge is always likely to be cited as one of the biggest problems.

Even more so when one of their exciting young talents does something like this.

Lewis Baker, a burgeoning young English talent, has been farmed out on loan to feeder team Vitesse Arnhem.

The 21-year old is a fixture in the England U21 side and scored an absolutely stunning goal against FC Twente over the course of the weekend.

Conte’s current midfield lacks any sort of dynamism and could certainly do with the sort of ingenuity Baker plucked out of nowhere to fire home from a seemingly impossible distance.
