It’s been a bit of a big week in the world of Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The Chelsea youngster has gone from having only one Premier League substitute appearance for Chelsea to being talked about as a future England international. However, this is not necessarily reflective of the player’s performances but of our modern society obsessed with stardom and willing to fling anyone and everyone into it.
One thing you cannot deny is the player’s talent. And his talent is of the rare kind in England. A 6ft 4″ midfielder who does not use his size to drive forward and score goals but rather to protect his back four. Loftus-Cheek has the ability to cover a lot of ground and break-up play – something that has been missing in England’s midfield for years.
