Chelsea’s clash with Stoke gets the Twitter treatment

After Tony Pulis, somewhat surprisingly, departed the Britannia Stadium, many felt that, that would be the end of the phyiscal and robust tactics implemented by the former Crystal Palace gaffer.

Mark Hughes took over the Potters and, for awhile, Stoke certainly did improve under the former Chelsea ace’s management, however, as the old adage goes: ‘you can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ and, slowly – but very surely – Stoke’s infamous style of play has crept in more and more – we will never forget Charlie Adam’s ‘sleeper’ hold on Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez the other week.

Phil Bardsley’s tackle in the first-half epitomised the Stoke City that Premier League fans have grown accustom to – and are quite frankly sick of it – but, another season passes and another season we have to witness Charlie Adam stealing a living.
