West Ham United welcome Southampton to their not-so-happy new home this afternoon, with pressure already mounting on Slaven Bilic.
A darling of East London last year, the Irons’ stuttering form has caused a concern amongst the Hammers’ faithful, despite the optimism that seemed so prevalent over the summer.
Having conceded four goals in each of their last two games, Bilic’s lack of options at left-back do little to settle the nerves.
Both Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku are out injured, though Winson Reid’s return is a big one for the home side.
With that in mind, Alvaro Arbeloa is deployed at right-back, with Havard Nordviet moving into the left-back role.
As bad as their defence has been in recent weeks, Southampton’s lack of cutting edge in the Premier League has been a major factor in their slow start to the campaign.
Despite Charlie Austin’s good form, Claude Puel has largely deployed Nathan Redmond as a forward in partnering Shane Long.
That being said, Puel has dropped the Irishman for Austin, who has been in strong form of late.
