Copa America finalist wants move… heart set on Man United or Man City

Nicolas Otamendi is desperate to leave Valencia and has his heart set on a move to either Manchester United or Manchester City, according to reports from Super Deporte.

The Argentina international’s reputation is at all all-time high following his wonderful campaign with Los Che last season – which yielded Champions League qualification – and his part on his homeland’s journey to the Copa America Final this summer – which they lost on penalties to hosts, Chile.

His future at the Mestalla has been far from clear for some time amid suggestions that he’s actively pursuing a move to the Premier League, and now reports claim that he has his heart set on leaving Valencia for United or City.

However, there have been no official bids from either side as of yet, and Otamendi’s employers are holding out for a release clause-triggering sum of around £36m.

A powerful and commanding centre-back, the ex-Porto man would appear to be a good option for both Manuel Pellegrini and Louis van Gaal.
