Crystal Palace showing Liverpool how it’s done

With less than ten minutes gone at Selhurst Park, Liverpool were already 1-0 up thanks to a Rickie Lambert goal and looked well on their way to ending their run of three straight defeats. However, clearly Neil Warnock’s side hadn’t read the pre-match script because, with only a few minutes left of the game, Crystal Palace lead the Reds 3-1.

The Eagles turned the game on its head with two quick-fire goals thanks to Joe Ledley and their captain Mile Jedinak. Yet again, Liverpool’s defenders will be criticised for their statuesque form for allowing Joe Ledley to arrive, unmarked, in the penalty box with plenty of time to slot home.

There was, however, nothing Dejan Lovren & co could do about Palace’s third goal of the afternoon with Australian midfielder Jedinak sending a peach of a free-kick past the helpless Simon Mignolet – it was so good that commentator Alan Smith went for the cliche “unstoppable”.
