Crystal Palace fans react as the Eagles close in on Belgium winger Yannick Carrasco

Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Kaveh Solhekol stated on Sky Sports that a loan deal for Yannick Carrasco is close to being agreed with Chinese side Dalian Yifang.

The Eagles are believed to be honing in on the 41-cap Belgium international, who scored an equaliser against Real Madrid for Atletico Madrid in the 2016 Champions League final.

Carrasco has netted an impressive 17 goals while also registering seven assists in 25 Chinese Super League appearances this term, while he has also amassed an eye-catching 24 goals and 17 assists in 52 outings for the club.

Solhekol adds that the loan fee for this deal is around £3m, although the former Monaco man’s wages could be an issue as he earns ‘more than £100k-a-week’ – however, the Sky Sports reporter said that it is now up to the player himself to decide what he wants to do.

Do you think Yannick Carrasco could be as effective as Wilfried Zaha?

Yes

Yes

No

No

It would be an impressive coup for the south Londoners given Carrasco’s pedigree at Champions League and international level – let’s see how the Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news…

To kick off the reaction, Aaron said that this would be “an absolutely insane coup” for the Eagles.

He also added that the previous captures of Yohan Cabaye, Mamadou Sakho. Max Meyer and Michy Batshuayi have “surprised” him, although the Carrasco news “feels like another level”.

Elsewhere, Reece and Cal shared their thoughts on the news.

Reece seemed to discredit Solhekol as a reliable source by saying that he’d “be buzzing right now” if it wasn’t the Sky Sports reporter breaking the news. – this fan did, however, say that Carrasco is “Zaha on the other wing” which is high praise indeed.

Meanwhile, Callum said “imagine the scenes” if Palace signed the Belgian, only for Roy Hodgson to play him on the bench all season – it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility seeing as the 72-year-old only gave Victor Camarasa five Premier League minutes.

Lastly, these two fans refused to believe this news.

Who on earth is that?!?! Can you name all of these obscure January signings?

Can you name this obscure player once signed by a Premier League club in a January transfer window?

One supporter said “no chance surely” in disbelief at Solhekol’s report, while another fan named Max said that there is “zero chance” of this move happening – we can only wait and see.

In other news, one Crystal Palace fan is “very close to snapping” their season ticket after a “pointless” transfer update…
