La Liga side Celta Vigo are interested in a move for out-of-favour Crystal Palace man Jairo Riedewald, and a deal is said to be close to completion - according to Sky Sports.

What's the word, then?

The Dutch international hasn't made a single Premier League appearance for the Eagles this season, and started just four league games last term in what was his maiden campaign at Selhurst Park.

At 22 years old, Riedewald is yet to fulfil his vast potential or show any of the promise that was expected of him following his £8m arrival from Ajax back in 2017 - he has started just four cup games this season and failed to impress in any of them.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he's still got it! Check out the video below...

It appears that Riedewald's time in south London is up, and he looks likely to follow Jordon Mutch, Jason Puncheon, Jonny Williams and Alexander Sorloth out the exit door at Selhurst Park - one would assume that Palace have at least a couple of transfers lined up due to this January fire sale.

What could Riedewald offer to Celta?

The Dutchman has plenty of time on his side, and has shown a few glimpses of his talent in a red and blue shirt at times. What catches the eye most about Riedewald is his composure on the ball and his willingness to receive it anywhere on the pitch, whilst he is also a very tidy passer and rarely loses possession.

What appears to be the problem is the intensity and the physicality of the English game, as Riedewald seems to prefer a slower tempo such as the one he enjoyed over in the Eredivisie with Ajax - in that respect, a more technical division focused more on possession-based football could be good for the 22-year-old.

The aforementioned report states that Celta have an obligation to buy the player if they survive relegation, so Riedewald will have to pull his weight in Spain if he wants to escape his Premier League nightmare.
