According to The Scottish Sun, Crystal Palace are plotting a £20m January swoop for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

What's the word?

Well, the report states that Eagles Sporting Director Dougie Freedman was at Tynecastle on Sunday after Palace scouts identified the 3-cap Colombia international as a target.

Morelos scored the equaliser in that game as Rangers drew 1-1 against Hearts, with Aston Villa representatives also in attendance.

It was the 23-year-old's 14th goal of the season already in just 19 games, and you can see why the south Londoners are interested in him.

His fine form this term comes after the striker scored an eye-catching 30 goals in 41 games last season, while also registering 11 assists - his efforts so far in 2019/20 are certainly no fluke.

Redemption for Freedman

This isn't the first time that Palace have been interested in Morelos.

Back in the summer, South American outlet De Primeira reported that the Eagles were interested in the 5 foot 10 striker, while Morelos even retweeted the story himself on his official Twitter account.

Additionally, another outlet named Rincon Escoces also reported that the forward's representative had 'transmitted' the Eagles' interest in his client over to Rangers.

At the time, we outlined how Palace and Freedman made a mistake in not pursuing the striker more strongly, and how the club should've made good on their interest in Morelos.

However, in light of the recent report about Freedman's attendance at the Hearts match, this serves to suggest that the south Londoners are looking to amend that mistake with a January swoop for the prolific frontman.

Not signing Morelos in the summer was clearly a blunder from the club given how goal-shy Roy Hodgson's side have been so far this season.

Palace have scored just eight goals in nine Premier League games this term, the second-least of any side in the top-flight.

Freedman seems all too aware of this with his continued interest in Morelos though, and he may be about to amend his mistake.
