Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the decision to sell Glenn Murray, after the veteran hitman struck an extra-time double for Brighton to send them through to the FA Cup fifth round.
The Eagles sold the 35-year-old to Bournemouth for £4m back in 2015 after he found game time hard to come by, before he ended up returning to the Amex Stadium with the Seagulls, whom he had initially left to join Palace back in 2011.
Murray scored 31 goals for the south Londoners back in the 2012/13 Championship season to fire them to promotion, and had hit seven in 17 appearances in the second half of the 2014/15 Premier League campaign, before being sold by Alan Pardew the following summer.
Which player with “no potential” has just been named Crystal Palace’s worst ever January signing? Find out in the video below…
That decision still doesn’t sit right with some Palace fans on Twitter, who feel that the man who has already hit 10 league goals in 20 starts this season was given up on too quickly, although others disagree…
Murray is what Murray does #cpfc better than Benteke not as good as Wright

He’s 35, but what’s age got to do with it if he’s scoring every other week. I wouldn’t want him back now, that time has passed but it’s a fact that he’s out scored all of the strikers we’ve had for the past two seasons.

The strikers at the club should be Benteke, Murray, Ayew and Bats…should never have swapped Murray for Wickham

I’ll keep saying it… why did we get rid of Murray ? he scores goals #CPFC

Even if that’s the case, it still doesn’t make Murray a Palace legend. A good player for us and one we’ll remember, but legend status is going a bit far.

I’m thankful for all the goals Murray scored for us but I will not say I want him to do well and I can’t understand any Palace fan that would when he’s regularly scoring goals for our biggest rivals……

Murray wasn’t even that brilliant for us in the prem. let’s be real.

I’d have a 52 year old Murray ahead of Sorloth.
