Crystal Palace fans delighted by news linking club to Max Meyer

It is rare for Crystal Palace to be linked to players that once peaked the interests of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, on this occasion, Roy Hodgson is believed to be keeping a close eye on one of those targets.

According to the Daily Mail, the Eagles are considering a move for free agent Max Meyer, who left Schalke at the end of the season when his contract expired.

The 22-year-old spent five years developing his game at the German outfit, and in 146 Bundesliga appearances, the midfielder has scored 17 goals and created 17 assists.

Meyer generally plays central, but he can also push further forward in a more attacking position, or drop back as a holding midfielder.

There have been some inconsistencies in his game over the last couple of seasons, but he is still young and has the potential to thrive elsewhere.

After the reports emerged about Palace’s alleged interest in Meyer, some fans posted their thoughts on Twitter.
