According to Gazzetta dello Sport, reported Crystal Palace target Timothy Castagne will turn down a move to Selhurst Park in order to sign a new contract with Atalanta, and Eagles fans on Twitter have been quick to show their displeasure at the update.

The Mirror's live transfer blog (June 26, 1:58pm) reported that the south London outfit had the Belgium international on their radar as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka following his exit to Manchester United.

SportItalia, via Football Italia, even reported as recently as Friday that they were in advanced talks to sign the 23-year-old in a €20m (£18m) deal.

However, the latest report from Italy suggests that the right-back will actually stay with the team that qualified for next season's Champions League having finished third in Serie A instead, which may come as a blow to Palace.

Eagles supporters have been quick to have their say on the situation via social media, and some don't seem that surprised at the update.
