Crystal Palace fans on Twitter were taken back over a decade to when they had Gabor Kiraly between the sticks as Palace TV released a feature-length video dedicated to the eccentric Hungarian on Thursday, including interviews with the man himself and some of his former teammates.
There have been two longstanding issues for the Eagles in recent years – one of which is the lack of a quality goalkeeper, the other a striker but, in Kiraly, the Selhurst Park outfit had a hero in net.
The 42-year-old custodian, who is still playing to this day – with Szombathelyi Haladas – was famous for his superstitions, including his wearing of grey jogging bottoms during games, and was a firm fan favourite in his three years at SE25.
Has this guy found the worst stadium in English football? Decide for yourself by watching the video below…
Even keeping Julian Speroni out of the starting XI, the 108-cap former Hungarian international was a solid ‘keeper and Palace could certainly do with a shot-stopper of his quality between the sticks now – Vicente Guaita has largely flattered to deceive while Wayne Hennessey is… Wayne Hennessey.
Here’s what the Eagles fans had to say about Kiraly’s Palace career on Twitter…

He was awsome and kept playing for ages. I’m sure he played last euros or world cup qualifiers.
