Plenty of Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have had the same cunning plan after a report in The Sun said that Chelsea are ready to bid £80m for want-away attacker Wilfried Zaha in January should they manage to overturn their transfer ban.

The Sun say that the Ivory Coast international reluctantly remained at Selhurst Park on deadline day having previously handed in a transfer request, but only until the next transfer window at the beginning of 2020.

The report adds that the Eagles' London neighbours are confident they can escape their ban and be able to bring new players to Stamford Bridge in the New Year, and that they would be keen on a big-money move for the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson's men saw striker Michy Batshuayi link back up with the Blues at the end of the 2018/19 campaign following a successful loan spell with them in which he scored six goals in 13 appearances.

Given Palace failed to bring in a new striker before the deadline despite sending Alexander Sorloth out on a two-year loan, their supporters have spotted an opportunity to bring the Belgian back after The Sun report about Chelsea's interest in their talisman.
