Crystal Palace fans have lavished praise on central defender Gary Cahill after the Eagles beat West Ham United 2-1 on Saturday.

The Eagles fell behind to Sebastien Haller’s goal at the London Stadium but goals from Patrick van Aanholt and Jordan Ayew gave Roy Hodgson’s men all three points.

Cahill, of course, joined the club on a free transfer in the summer after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season. He spent seven years at Stamford Bridge, winning two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League.

The 33-year-old made his sixth league appearance of the campaign against the Irons, and Palace have tasted defeat just once with him in the team, a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

And fans were delighted with the display of the 61-cap England international versus Manuel Pellegrini’s men as Palace climbed into the top four, with some praising his influence from the back.
