Lots of Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reported by German outlet Kicker and The Athletic’s club correspondent Matt Woosnam that Jairo Riedewald is set to join FC Paderborn on a season-long loan.
Woosnam reports that there is no buy-back option in the deal for the Bundesliga outfit.
Riedewald has found life hard at Selhurst Park since the departure of the man who signed him – Frank de Boer.
After arriving from Ajax in a deal worth £7.9m, the 22-year-old has managed just 12 Premier League appearances for the Eagles and has made just two appearances under Roy Hodgson in 2019 – both of them coming in cup competitions.
The Dutchman’s most recent outing was against Colchester in the Carabao Cup, where he played at left-back. Palace lost on penalties to the League Two side and that match appears to be Riedewald’s last action of the campaign in red and blue.
Let’s see how the Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news…
I’d be surprised. He’s been set up to cover left back if PVA goes down. So if he does go who will be LB cover?

You get the feeling the laconic style of play we’ve seen from Jairo must be the same on the training pitch. Roy’s comments on Ayew give an insight into his appreciation of graft rather than talent.

Good luck Jairo, certainly needs some regular game time somewhere! ?

It’s fine we have so much cover on the left side of defense ?

Never really given a chance….. must be something about the way he trains.

His lack of pace counts against him in the PL. wish him great success at SCP ?

I get the impression Roy would play a SMEG fridge ahead of Riedewald so for the sake of his career he should go somewhere he might stand a chance of playing. I don’t get the player I saw at Ajax against Manure in the Europa isn’t good enough for #CPFC

Do you think this is because of not going through v Colchester so less games aka less chances for him to play now?
