Jonny Williams, having spent much of the last few years of his Eagles career on loan with other EFL teams, has secured a permanent switch to Charlton and thus ended a 17-year spell with Crystal Palace - the club he joined at just eight years of age.

While he may have not been a key part of Palace's progression since promotion to the Premier League in 2013, the Welshman was integral to getting the Croydon outfit there as he made 29 appearances in the Championship before they won the play-offs.

Affectionately nicknamed 'Joniesta' by the Selhurst faithful, he will surely be missed - chairman Steve Parish had this to say regarding the 25-year-old's departure:

"Jonny leaves today as a hugely admired, immensely popular and well respected figure.

"He has great talent, and has always been a joy to have at the club. I know we all hope he becomes a huge success at Charlton Athletic and continues to achieve great things with his beloved Wales.

Crystal Palace fans on Twitter echoed the sentiment as they reacted to their club's first action of the January window - you can check out the best of their responses below...
