Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter following the 1-1 draw against Norwich at Carrow Road, and some of them were left impressed by Jairo Riedewald's performance.

The former Ajax man - who joined from the Eredivisie giants in a deal worth £7.9m back in 2017 - was only playing against the Canaries as Patrick van Aanholt was missing with a hamstring injury which also ruled him out against Southampton, although Roy Hodgson's side didn't miss the left-back too much thanks to Riedewald.

Having played the full 90 minutes, the 23-year-old - who can also play at centre-back or in midfield - had one shot and made one key pass, while he also could've scored when one-on-one with Tim Krul, only to square the ball instead and see it cut out.

The Netherlands international was also quite tidy on the ball, making 60 passes - the second-most of any player behind Luka Milivojevic's 64 - with a completion rate of 81.7%, while he also saw three of his five attempted long balls find a teammate.

It was a tidy performance from the man who failed to make a single Premier League appearance last season, and Riedewald's showing in Norfolk on New Year's Day has seemingly left these Palace fans on Twitter impressed.

This fan said that Van Aanholt's injury has come at a time where Riedewald "is really going for it" before adding that the Dutchman played some "lovely" and "intricate" football against the Canaries.

Another supporter named Perry said that they "knew there was talent" in Riedewald, and that he only needed to find his right position.

Elsewhere, this fan named Stephanie called the Ajax academy graduate a "proper player" before going on to mention that he also did well against Southampton recently - it really does seem as if Riedewald is stepping up and taking his chance.

Furthermore, these three fans felt that Riedewald's quality on the ball was a worthy talking point.

This trio of supporters rounded off the adoration over the Palace No.44 by each piling praise on the player, with the first of the bunch saying that Riedewald "has to take" James McCarthy's place in the team when Van Aanholt is back, before mentioning that he's up there with Mamadou Sakho and Luka Milivojevic in terms of his ability to pass the ball forward - high praise indeed.

Additionally, another fan named George said that the man who shone against Norwich is "Europe quality" on the ball, and also said that it's "criminal" that Riedewald was left in the reserves for years following Frank de Boer's exit.

It's the dawn of a new decade in the Premier League, but how much do you know about the last 10 years?

Lastly, a supporter named Liam thinks that the left-back position could be solidified by the Dutchman, with the right coaching and a good run of games.
