Crystal Palace fans on Twitter are split after learning that Rangers right-back James Tavernier could be a January transfer target for them, as per a talkSPORT report.

TalkSPORT said on Monday that Gers manager was preparing for the potential departure of his captain in the New Year by monitoring developments with Argentine full-back Leonel Di Placido.

The report then named the Eagles as one of the clubs keen on the 27-year-old, who has made a huge impact north of the border for the Glasgow giants with 43 goals and 64 assists in 202 appearances in all competitions.

It seemed certain that the south London outfit were going to bring in a new right-back during the summer transfer window following the departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United, but it failed to materialise as they saw a £25m bid for Chelsea's Reece James rejected, while they failed to get Tottenham's Kyle Walker-Peters despite being in pole position for his signature on deadline day, as per Football Insider.

That has left Roy Hodgson with Joel Ward and Martin Kelly has his senior options in that position, with the former getting the nod in that role against Everton at the weekend.

Palace supporters are clearly split on the potential addition of Tavernier though, with one suggesting "he is literally PVA" in terms of being better going forward than defensively like left-back Patrick van Aanholt is, although another obviously feels he would be a coup by saying it would be "too good to be true".
