Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react badly after Alexander Sorloth offered an explanation for leaving Selhurst Park back in the summer for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

The Norway international told the Super Lig side's official magazine (via Gazete Futbol) that he left south London as he knew he had the chance to play in Europe for Trabzonspor, while stating that Palace's main objective was just to avoid relegation.

Now, this could be interpreted as a subtle dig at the Eagles, although Sorloth wasn't treated too well at Selhurst Park in fairness.

The 24-year-old was given just four Premier League starts to prove himself, before being loaned out to Belgian side Gent for the second half of last season.

Upon his return, the striker - who cost Palace £9m - was then shipped away on a two-year loan deal to Trabzonspor having scored just one goal in 20 appearances for the Eagles.

Despite that, his comments have still sparked a reaction from some Palace fans on Twitter, and it doesn't seem as if they have taken too well to Sorloth's opinionated words.

The first of these two fans said that Sorloth's comments show that he is too "gassed" with himself, which means that he is perhaps becoming a bit cocky, while they also said that he is the worst player they've seen in a red and blue shirt since promotion in 2013 - harsh words indeed.

The other supporter said that, without the Norwegian striker, Hodgson has a much better chance at achieving survival, slyly taking aim at the forward's ability.

Elsewhere, these two fans also decided to mock Sorloth. One said that he always looked "clueless" and without any kind of instinct, whereas another poked fun at the striker's comments by ridiculing the quality of the Turkish top-flight.

This supporter began by simply repeating Sorloth's comments, but ended with a hard-hitting line in which they demand the 24-year-old's sale before he even comes back to south London.

Lastly, this fan also decided to insult the out-on-loan attacker by stating that he is "too slow and lumbering" for the Premier League, revealing that the lesser quality of the Super Lig is better suited to Sorloth's ability.
