Crystal Palace welcome Derby to Selhurst Park this Sunday in the third round of the FA Cup, and Roy Hodgson's squad is seriously struggling.

The Eagles have a huge number of senior players out injured after Mamadou Sakho damaged his hamstring in the 1-1 draw against Norwich on New Year's Day, with Joel Ward, Andros Townsend, Scott Dann, Patrick van Aanholt, Christian Benteke and Jeffrey Schlupp amongst those missing - Gary Cahill was one of them, but he has since returned to training.

However, Hodgson revealed that his medical department would prefer to see few senior players appear against the Rams this Sunday, saying: "It would be nice to say ‘no problem – we’ll put them all out there again’ but I’ve got to be a little bit careful. I’m certain if I let my medical department pick the team there won’t be many senior players playing. It will be a little bit of a fight, in that respect."

In that respect, let's see which XI Hodgson could put out against Derby - if he has any players left, that is...

As you can see, we're expecting a huge amount of changes from the draw against Norwich - seven in fact.

Palace simply can't afford to lose any more senior players to be honest, and Hodgson would be wise to follow his medical team's advice and play as little of his first-team squad as possible.

In that respect, we think the former England manager should make seven changes from the Norwich game.

That includes a competitive first-team debut for 20-year-old left-back Tyrick Mitchell, who was named on the bench against Brighton recently and drew praise from Palace fans on Twitter for his efforts in pre-season.

Elsewhere, with no other centre-back options to choose from, Hodgson should put Jairo Riedewald and James Tomkins in the centre of defence while also placing Sam Woods - who played at right-back against Colchester earlier in the season - in the position again.

Further up the field, we think Hodgson should hand a first senior start to Brandon Pierrick, who impressed off the bench against Norwich with two key passes to his name in just eight minutes.

Other academy graduates such as James Daly - who was on the bench against Norwich - could start alongside Connor Wickham, who Hodgson has already confirmed will begin the game against Derby.

Nya Kirby, another academy prospect on the bench against Norwich, could also come into the midfield alongside James McCarthy, who has managed just four Premier League starts this term.

With Woods, Mitchell, Pierrick, Daly and Kirby in the team, Palace would have five academy graduates out on the Selhurst Park turf this Sunday.

In other news, Crystal Palace shouldn't worry about this Premier League side's enquiry for a target of theirs...
